Ensure That:

• No ground disturbance occurs until Rule S1 is completed.

• Personnel shall not enter a trench deeper than 1.0m in depth unless the trench has been visually assessed by a suitably qualified person (supervisor/qualified pipe layer) on the ground conditions that it is safe to enter the trench. If there is a risk of engulfment, risk controls should be in place even when the trench is less than 1.5m in depth. All trenches at 1.5m or deeper must have suitable controls in place as per the WorkSafe Vic Compliance code - Excavations.

• Barricading and signage are in place to safeguard against anyone falling into the excavation.

• No one is allowed to approach a trench edge unless the required controls are in place.

• No person works alone in a trench or excavation. EVER. Another person must be close by to render immediate assistance if required.
